Engineering scholarships
A career in engineering can offer students competitive starting salaries and the potential to boost earning power with experience or a graduate degree. But paying for your degree can be a challenge, even if it's a solid investment in your future. Here's a look at some of the resources available to you to help you fund your degree.
Scholarships for engineering students
The College of Engineering offers a number of dedicated scholarships for engineering students. Eligibility criteria vary and include both need-based and merit-based scholarships, as well as scholarships dedicated to engineering students specializing in certain majors or subfields.
Scholarships range from $250 to $4,500. Some scholarships are renewable for more than one year.
The College of Engineering scholarship committee reviews eligible applications and matches students to best-fit scholarships. If you are selected for a scholarship, you will receive information about your scholarship amount in the finances section of your MyNEVADA account.
Apply for an engineering scholarship
- Between November and February 1st of each year, to be considered for any institutional scholarship including departmental scholarships, Βι¶ΉΣ³» students must complete the : go to Student Center, Supplemental Forms, Scholarship Application.
- To be eligible for consideration for scholarships which require financial need, by February 1st annually, students must complete the and include federal school code 002568; Βι¶ΉΣ³», Reno, NV. Students not eligible to complete the FAFSA (such as international students or students with DACA status), may complete the Financial Aid Calculation for Non-FAFSA Eligible Students form by March 1 annually.

CREATE program
The CREATE program offers scholarships to a select group of incoming students who meet academic and financial eligibility requirements.

CyberCorp® Scholarship for Service
The National Science Foundation CyberCorp Scholarship for Service program offers tuition, fees and a stipend in exchange for government service in cybersecurity for a time period equal to the duration of the scholarship. Learn more at the CyberCorp Scholarship for Service website.
Differential fee research assistantships in engineering
The College of Engineering offers differential fee research assistantships for new and continuing doctoral students.
Assistantship details
Both incoming and current Ph.D. students are eligible to apply for an assistantship. Your faculty advisor must provide matching funds ($13,000). Due date for the application will be announced each year by the Dean's office.
Assistantships are for two semesters.
How to apply
The application will be available once a deadline is announced.
All applicants should be prepared to submit:
- Undergraduate and graduate academic information
- GRE scores
- A list of publications (in APA format)
- A short essay on future plans
Currently enrolled students should also be prepared to submit their dissertation title and abstract, a summary of work completed, and a schedule of tasks remaining.
