University alum to serve as associate dean of undergraduate affairs

Erin Edgington, a member of the faculty at the Â鶹ӳ»­ since 2017, has accepted appointment as the associate dean of undergraduate affairs in the University’s College of Liberal Arts.

Edgington will assume the new role on July 1.

She currently serves as chair of the Department of World Languages and Literatures, where she is an associate professor. Edgington also has served as assistant director and associate dean of the University’s Honors College.

Edgington was born and raised in Sparks and completed her undergraduate studies in French Language and Literature and Sociology at the University in 2008. She is committed to creative initiatives that help undergraduates succeed.

“I’m very excited to take on this new role within the College of Liberal Arts,” she said. “I’m eager to work across units to develop innovative arts, social sciences and humanities curricula and to ensure the success of the College’s undergraduate students.”

She earned master’s and doctoral degrees in French Literature from Indiana University and earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University. Before joining the University’s faculty, she taught at Queen’s University Belfast as well as the University of Michigan.

A specialist in 19th-century French literature and art, Edgington’s latest book, “Between the New Country and the Old World: William Chapman and French-Canadian Literary Nationalism,” is forthcoming in August 2025 from McGill-Queen’s University Press.
