2019 College of Science video competition winners announced

Students take home cash prizes for short videos depicting life as College of Science students.

The College of Science is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2019 annual video competition. The competition is open to all College of Science students and winners receive cash prizes. This year’s themes were live a life of discovery, the science of everyday life, and science for all. Winners are decided by fellow students in the College.

First place: Science and You by Joshua Derico

The first-place winner featured in the header of this article was made by Joshua Derico, an undergraduate chemistry major (pre-med). His video is titled "Science and You." The expert animations and clever dialogue were a winning match.

Second place: Come to Where You Belong by Isabel Reynoso and collaborator Ashna Prabhu

Isabel Reynoso and her collaborator Ashna Prabhu's video "Come to Where You Belong" took second place in the competition. The video features beautiful scenic videography and inspirational dialogue that explores the reasons why these two students decided to pursue an education in science.

Third place: Snow Blossom by Sara Sadrolsadat

The third-place winner titled "Snow Blossom" by Sara Sadrolsadat follows the story of a College of Science student finding an unlikely surprise in the snow and using science and research to care for the delicate life.
