As part of the , presents “Turfgrass Disease” noon-1 p.m., Sept. 11, at the Extension office at 4955 Energy Way in Reno.
“Disease requires a host, pathogen and favorable environment to occur,” said Extension Commercial Horticulture Program Coordinator Jenn Fisher. “In ΒιΆΉΣ³», we often don’t have the environment for disease, though it can be created with poor maintenance practices. It’s important for green-industry professionals to know how to identify and control common turfgrass diseases when they do occur.”
The class, taught by Brian Dean, project manager at Gail Willey Landscaping Inc., will outline the basics of diseases, including the conditions that encourage disease and the organisms that cause it. Dean will cover common turfgrass diseases in northern ΒιΆΉΣ³» from identification to control. The class offers Pesticide Applicator Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
