Mineral Monday is a weekly video series exploring the many amazing minerals, fossils, and historic objects on display at the W.M. Keck Earth Science and Mineral Engineering Museum as told by museum curator Garrett Barmore. This week, Garrett shows us a few exciting pieces in the Keck Museum's mining history collection. These carbide lamps were used by miners to illuminate their workspaces underground up until about the 1930s. Aside from using them for light, can you guess how else miners might have used these open-flame lamps underground?
