Wednesday’s concert to raise money for ΒιΆΉΣ³»­β€™s recording department

Multi-instrumentalist Todd Green will perform at the ΒιΆΉΣ³»­'s Nightingale Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Green, a solo-touring performer, is a featuring more than 30 instruments from around the world and four digital looping stations. Many of the instruments and loopers have been custom made for Green. Green will be donating all profits made from the concert to the University's Recording Arts Department classes.

Currently, the recording arts classes are the fastest growing classes offered at the University's School of the Arts. The fundraiser is additionally intended to help raise funds so the University can afford to give students the opportunity to get a degree in recording arts, which is not offered. 

"With recent cuts in the University's budget, trying to offer the program that students want to get degrees in, like recording arts, needs extra help to make it happen, which is why  we are proactive about fundraising," said Tom Gordon, recording instructor for the University. 

The University's @One Media Department and the University's Recording Arts Department are collaborating for the first time to create a live DVD of the performance. The @One department will be producing the DVD and the recording department will be recording and mixing the show for the DVD. 

"The University's ability to bring in bigger and bigger names in every genre of music, including Todd Green, helps to build community support for our programs," Gordon said. "Mr. Green is one of northern ΒιΆΉΣ³»­'s best kept secrets."

Green has been an international touring artist for twenty years, and received his credentials at the . Though Green's performances are somewhat structured in terms of style, he enjoys improvising as well which makes each of his individual concerts unique. Green will be playing a variety of string, flute and percussion instruments from all over the world. His musical style is inspired by varying cultures in the Middle East, Central Asia, Far East and South America.

Green will additionally be hosting a free lecture and musical demonstration open to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 4 in the Nightingale Music Hall.
