Water management strategies for NDOT

Developing Comprehensive Water Management Strategies for the Βι¶ΉΣ³» Department of Transportation

The Βι¶ΉΣ³» Department of Transportation (NDOT) is committed to preserving the surface and groundwater resources within the state of Βι¶ΉΣ³». Stormwater management is particularly important as stormwater discharges have the potential to carry pollutants from state roads into nearby water bodies. Βι¶ΉΣ³» researchers are working collaboratively with NDOT engineers and maintenance personnel to develop and evaluate advanced field-scale technologies for comprehensive water management related to the collection, handling, treatment, recycling, and reuse of water and wastewater within NDOT jurisdictions.

This project will examine existing water management strategies, review the current state-of-the-art technologies used by western DOTs, and develop and test new treatment technologies at the field-scale. Products of this research will maximize Βι¶ΉΣ³»'s limited water resources while protecting and preserving water and environmental quality for future generations.
