Dear Wolf Pack Family,

I hope this message finds you safe and healthy. The spring semester continues to demonstrate your concern and care for all of the people on our campus. Thank you for your commitment to the success of the University.

As the test positivity rate and the number of hospitalizations from COVID-19 in Washoe County and throughout Â鶹ӳ»­ continue to drop, new guidelines from Governor Sisolak regarding vaccine eligibility have just been released. These guidelines are intended to make the vaccine available to more Â鶹ӳ»­ns more rapidly. The new guidelines raise important considerations for the University as we work to ensure that our faculty, staff and students have access to the vaccine and that we make a successful return to in-person operations in the fall.

Faculty, staff and student employees who are working, or will be working on campus in the summer and fall, are now eligible for vaccination appointments. In addition, we are thrilled that anyone 16 years and older in Â鶹ӳ»­ will have access to a vaccine beginning April 5 and anyone 16 years and older with preexisting health conditions can begin receiving the vaccine on March 22.

Here are related updates:

  • Washoe County will continue to concentrate on vaccinating our northern Â鶹ӳ»­ workforce and has stated they will work with the University to schedule employees for the vaccines. We will continue to follow, as we have since January, Washoe County’s guidelines for scheduling Â鶹ӳ»­ employees.
  • Additionally, we encourage eligible employees and students to seek various sources/outlets such as pharmacies and some private physician practices to schedule appointments. University employees may schedule appointments through the County or visit for other vaccine distribution outlets. You will need to show proof of employment (WolfCard or pay slip) when you report for your appointment. Please continue to check these websites regularly for availability.
  • The University will continue to work with the State and County on distribution strategies so that all employees and student can be vaccinated as soon as possible given the allotment of vaccines to our region.

These developments represent a significant step forward in the state’s fight against COVID-19 and the University’s plans to return to face-to-face instruction and work for our students, faculty and staff over the summer and into the fall. The University Community’s actions on behalf of the health and well-being of others have all made a huge difference
