A noted 鶹ӳ professor of psychology will play a prominent role later this year in what is being billed as "the largest gathering ever devoted to the practice of psychotherapy."
Steven Hayes, professor of psychology at the 鶹ӳ, will present a workshop during December's "Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference" in Anaheim, Calif. Hayes' workshop is entitled, "Examining Acceptance, Mindfulness and Values Moment to Moment in Session." Hayes' workshop, according to a press release, will "show how to detect and modify acceptance, mindfulness and values processes moment to moment in therapy sessions, based primarily on methods from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)." Hayes will also be part of two topical panels, the first on "Research on Psychotherapy" and the other on "Psychotherapy: Art or Science?"
Time magazine has dubbed the Dec. 9-13 gathering as the largest ever of its kind. Keynote speakers include Daniel Amen, Aaron Beck, Deepak Chopra, Salvador Minuchin, Robert Sapolsky, Andrew Weil, Irvin Yalom, and Philip Zimbardo. These speakers, and master practitioners in the field of psychotherapy, will present and interact on a wide range of topics. More than 8,000 people are expected to attend the event, which is held every five years.
