Our goal is to provide a helping environment in which clients feel heard, valued and represented while being engaged in the process of change.

The Downing Counseling Clinic is named in memory of Dr. Jerry Downing, a former Counselor Education faculty member, and is dedicated to serving the University and the Community. We are a training center for graduate counseling students. The clinic is a part of the CACREP accredited Counselor Education Program within the Human Development, Family Science, and Counseling Department at the Βι¶ΉΣ³». We are located on the third floor of the William J. Raggio Building (WRB) on campus.

All sessions are conducted by second and third-year graduate students in the practicum or internship phase of the program. Supervision is an important training tool for our program, and all sessions at the clinic are recorded to assist in the teaching process. Student clinicians are supervised by the faculty and staff of the Counselor Education Program. The Downing Counseling Clinic follows federal and state statutes, as well as ethical standards established by the American Counseling Association and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Services are available 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The Downing Counseling Clinic follows the academic calendar of the University. As such, we are closed during major holidays and academic breaks. During these breaks, please expect a delay in clinic scheduling, returned emails and response to phone calls.
