University-wide meeting for faculty and staff

November 10, 2020

This message was sent to faculty and staff at the Βι¶ΉΣ³».

Dear Wolf Pack Family,

Please join me for a University-wide meeting for faculty and staff via Zoom on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 3:30-5 p.m. to discuss our current budget situation and our ongoing efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 on campus.

The Governor’s Finance Office announced last week that all state agencies prepare proposed budget reserves of 12 percent for each year of the upcoming 2021-23 biennium. This is a matter of great concern for all of us, as it impacts both our general fund appropriations from the State of Βι¶ΉΣ³» as well as our self-supporting activities including residence life, parking, and continuing education.

In addition, we will discuss many of the details associated with the announcement that beginning Nov. 30 instruction will be delivered remotely for the remainder of the fall semester. This University-wide meeting will also give us a chance to discuss how the campus will operate between the period of Nov. 30 and Jan. 25 when the spring semester is scheduled to begin.

Faculty Senate Chair Amy Pason will serve as moderator for the University-wide meeting. Speakers will include Dr. Cheryl Hug-English, Director of the Student Health Center, Tim McFarling, Associate Vice President for Human Resources, Vic Redding, Vice President for Administration and Finance, Denise Baclawski, Associate Vice President for Facilities, and myself.

To join the University-wide meeting, which will take place as a webinar on Zoom, . You must be logged into Zoom with your NetID credentials to attend this webinar. To log in to Zoom, use the SSO option. When asked, enter 'UNR' as the domain, then enter your NetID and Password.

You must register for the session. Once registered, participants will have a reserved spot. Although we have increased the number of participants who can join the meeting, we recommend you register early. The meeting will be recorded and available to view online.

Should you have questions you would like to provide prior to the meeting, please send them to UniversityWideMeeting@unr.edu.

Please remember that as we face these challenges, whether it is our budget or how our University is working to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, your voice matters. Ideas, solutions and ways we can save every dollar to preserve our budget are welcome.

I look forward to seeing you all on Nov. 18.

Sincere regards,

Brian Sandoval
President
