Outstanding Senior
The Outstanding Senior Award recognizes graduating students who have excelled academically and have improved leadership in our College.
Sarah Ko is graduating cum laude with a degree in environmental science. Her emphasis is soil biogeochemistry, and she has a geotechnology minor. In addition to her excellent scholarship, Sarah has an impressive record of internships, research and service. She worked as a biology intern for the Â鶹ӳ» Department of Transportation, and her responsibilities included a diverse array of field surveys, site monitoring and field work under challenging conditions. Sarah also worked with the Experiment Station’s Desert Farming Initiative for over a year doing the hands-on work of harvesting and irrigation, along with data entry. Sarah completed two community-based research projects: one with Envirolution and one with Truckee Meadows Tomorrow. In addition, she worked at the Joe Crowley Student Union and served as co-chair of a large-scale service project with Circle K International. Sarah loves the outdoors, animals and working with plants. Her future career goals include working in a research-oriented position, such as for a federal agency.
