B.S. in Neuroscience She/her/hers

Summary

My name is Alayna McGuire and I am a current junior at the Βι¶ΉΣ³» pursuing a B.S. in Neuroscience. My goals in the future is to potentially obtain a Neuroscience Ph.D or Md/Ph.D. I am currently conducting University-sponsored research through the Βι¶ΉΣ³» ENDURE program, which aims to aid undergraduate students with intentions of pursuing Neuroscience MD/Ph.D or Phd programs for graduate school. I am currently working in Dr. Sarah Haigh’s lab where I am looking at visual sensitivity to flicker and its effects on visibility of the phantom array as well as reading efficiency to expand upon those with sensory deficits.

Research interests

Despite my broad interest in many subfields of neuroscience, I have a particular interest in cognitive neuroscience. To be more specific, I want to study more on sensory processing, specifically deficits for people with neurological disorders. I have found a passion in studying neuroscience through the research I have done in the past, and what I am doing now. My goal is to explore and learn what I can through my research, and potentially pursue an MD/Ph.D program or a Ph.D in Neuroscience working at a company's research lab or a practice. I hope to make a valuable contribution to the Neuroscience community, and help people with these issues through my discoveries.
