Jerome Hipps, Ph.D.

Summary

Dr. Hipps is a seasoned program evaluator with more than 40 years research experience. For over 22 years, he was a Senior Research Associate and Project Director in the Evaluation Research Program at WestEd. He worked with a range of education programs funded by organizations such as the National Science Foundation (NSF) and both the U. S. and California Departments of Education. He led the evaluation of the Â鶹ӳ»­’s NSF-funded Roadside Heritage Project and the University’s Northern Â鶹ӳ»­ English Learner Initiative. Additionally, Dr. Hipps was a site visitor to numerous NSF Integrated Graduate Education and Research Traineeship programs and part of the analytic team working with an evaluation of the early implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards in multiple California school districts. Dr. Hipps is skilled at blending quantitative and qualitative data that inform program implementation and strengthen outcomes. Dr. Hipps will oversee CBESS evaluation in its entirety, analyzing data and creating annual reports. Dr. Hipps will contribute to the identification and selection of additional evaluation measures to meet the dynamic needs of the program. Dr. Hipps will work closely with Dr. Jacque Ewing-Taylor, the evaluation consultant (and a PI) on the previous grant, to build on or modify evaluation instruments for the new grant.
