Departments

Multiple departments comprise the University's Office of Information Technology. Learn more about the focus of each department and the people who work there. An organizational chart for the entire Office can be found at the bottom of this page. Information Security

Information Security is responsible for all aspects of digital information and system protection for the University campus and affiliated entities. This unit engages with the different administrative areas and academic departments to assist in managing security procedures and policies. It manages the incident response, business continuity, vulnerability monitoring and other information security related processes. In addition, it oversees the centralized identity management system on campus.


Network Operations and Unified Communications

Network Operations engineers, implements and manages the campus networking infrastructure including fiber and copper physical plant facilities, wired and wireless connectivity, switching and routing, data center networking and connectivity for medical clinics and offsite locations housing University departments for data and voice.   

Unified Communications provides communication services such as telephone, video conferencing, desktop sharing and unified messaging such as voicemail and email.


OIT Operations    

OIT Operations maintains and provides system administration for the centralized physical and virtual server infrastructure to support file, web, database, backup, and application services on Windows and Linux/UNIX. OIT operations also support High-Performance Computing for research and manages critical data centers on campus. Additionally, third-party app specialists provide support and maintenance for major applications in use throughout the University.


OIT Programs and Projects

Responsible for the Office's project management strategy and execution. Serves as Project Manager for all aspects of major initiatives within Information Technology.


User Services

User Services is responsible for the end user support of OIT products throughout the University. 


Service Center and Endpoint Services

The OIT Service Center provides technical support to all students, faculty, and staff via the Computing Help Desk (in-person, chat, remotely, and over the phone) for all general IT services that are universal to users regardless of their department.

Endpoint Services manages general access computer labs across campus and provides desktop computer and software support to administrative and academic departments where specialized systems administration is not required.


School of Medicine

Providing HIPAA-compliant computer, networking, and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) support to medical education departments and clinics statewide. 


Cyberinfrastructure 

The University’s collective effort in Cyberinfrastructure (CI) seeks to develop a program of coordinated human and machine resources that provide scalable, cutting-edge technology support for research activity across all disciplines on campus. Through a team of OIT personnel and a committee of research faculty members, the CI Program assists individual researchers on large projects, advocates with campus leadership for sustainability of community technology resources, and engages the national CI community of research computing and networking professionals. These activities accelerate research in Βι¶ΉΣ³»­ and bring national CI resources and practices to the University and its collaborators.


OIT Administration

Administration unit for the Office of Information Technology, supporting all purchasing, personnel, budgeting, payroll, leave records, events, searches, inventory, travel, and more for the Office.


ICT Accessibility

The Information and Communications Technology department resides under OIT. This unit ensures that digital information and technologies used around campus are accessible to all.
