PBIS and MTSS: Training, Coaching and Supports

The mission of the Βι¶ΉΣ³» PBISTA Center is to provide tools, knowledge, and skills for organizations to develop and sustain systems that support safety and social emotional wellness.

History

The Βι¶ΉΣ³» Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) Technical Assistance Center serves as the network through which schools can be trained in the use of positive behavior interventions and support. Βι¶ΉΣ³» has taken a bottom-up approach implementing in individual schools, with the goal of increasing awareness and support at the district and state level.

Starting in 2014, with the help of the School Climate Transformation Grant-SEA, the Technical Assistance Center has been able to provide the necessary resources to allow for ongoing on-site training, intensive coaching, and data evaluation. The Technical Assistance Center works with schools and districts across the state of Βι¶ΉΣ³» from small rural districts such as Pershing County to large urban districts such as Clark County.

As of 2024, Βι¶ΉΣ³» MTSS is funded through multiple sources of state and federal funding, including competitive funds from the US Department of Education (USDOE), Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Agency (SAMHSA). Local dollars from the Βι¶ΉΣ³» Department of Education and the Βι¶ΉΣ³» Department of Health and Human Services are also leveraged for MTSS implementation in the state.

The goal of Βι¶ΉΣ³» MTSS is to holistically support students, teachers and school staff with tiered systems of support, a focus on mental health, drug misuse curriculum, and the use of targeted and universal screeners to encourage health and wellbeing of everyone in the school systems.
