Summary
Originally from a small mining town in the foothills of northern California, Rachel moved to northern Βι¶ΉΣ³» to pursue a degree in the geosciences, receiving her B.S. in Geology from the Βι¶ΉΣ³». She immediately began work for the Βι¶ΉΣ³» Division of Minerals as a Geologist and GIS Specialist on the Abandoned Mine Lands program. During her time with the Division of Minerals, she visited many historic mining districts in Βι¶ΉΣ³», and fell in love with the Great Basin. She then transitioned into a position with the Βι¶ΉΣ³» Bureau of Mines and Geology and is currently the Geologic Information Specialist at the Great Basin Science Sample and Records Library and is currently pursuing a M.S. in Geology. During her day job, she focuses on cataloging physical and digital datasets, disseminating geospatial data, and educating the public about mining and geology in Βι¶ΉΣ³». In her free time Rachel enjoys educating the public about geology and earth processes and painting the beautiful landscapes and birds of the Great Basin and eastern Sierra Βι¶ΉΣ³».
