The Secondary Education Program is committed to preparing teachers who are able to meet the challenges of today's classrooms. The teacher education faculty provides an educational program that enables students to: develop a strong foundation of knowledge about teaching and learning; display a love of learning; value democracy and pluralism; and engage in reflective practice about one's growth as a teacher.

Secondary Education Degrees

Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education

The Secondary Education program leads to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in the College of Education (120 undergraduate credits). Students have the option of combining this with a degree in their content area.

Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education

The Secondary Education program leads to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in the College of Education (120 undergraduate credits). Students have the option of combining this with a degree in your content area.

Professional Certificate in Secondary Education Teacher Licensure

The Professional Certificate in Secondary Education Teacher Licensure enables students who have completed an undergraduate degree in a field other than education to become licensed to teach in Â鶹ӳ»­'s secondary classrooms (grades 7-12).

Master of Secondary Education - First-time Licensure

The Master's Degree in Secondary Education (MEd) offers teacher candidates an opportunity to complete a course of study in secondary school (middle/high school) programs to become highly qualified in their licensure area.

Master of Secondary Education- Continuing Educator Improvement (CEI) Online

The Continuing Educator Improvement (CEI) program is designed for practicing educators interested in completing a master’s degree in secondary education (M.Ed.) entirely online in two years.
