Lemelson STEM M.S. Program Goals
The goal of the Lemelson STEM program is to develop expert teachers in STEM education, emphasizing teaching math and science and integrating engineering and technology concepts. This program is for K-8 educators and is generously funded by the Lemelson Foundation.
The first year, we focus on shifting teaching practice toward standard based approaches. Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core Mathematics Standards support the learning of ALL students. This process involves re-conceptualizing and refining how they design the physical space, develop classroom routines, plan lessons, and facilitate discussions.
The second year, will focus on refining instruction skills and developing leadership skills to support other teachers. Our work aligns with the Â鶹ӳ» Governor’s and legislature’s vision in increasing participation and interest in STEM education.
