Βι¶ΉΣ³» Equestrian Team

The Βι¶ΉΣ³» Equestrian Team consists of men and women collegians of all ages, majors and equestrian backgrounds. We vary from hunter jumpers to reiners and the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) has something for all of us! This team was created for college students to have a wonderful experience riding, showing and learning about horses.

The team has about 30 members and wants to compete in both English and Western events. Practices occur twice a week under coaches Sarah Mullins of Meadow View Farms in Reno (English), Ashlin Bowen of Breakaway Farms (English), and Jason Diaz of Painted D. Ranch (Western).

Before team members can compete in August, the team has to be accepted into a zone under the IHSA. They are looking at competing in a Utah-Idaho-Montana zone.

Eventually, the team hopes to compete as part of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association, which falls under the National Collegiate Athletic Association, and as such would receive support from the University’s athletics program as a varsity sport.
