Math Camp
New graduate students are expected to participate in Math Camp, an intensive review/summary of the mathematics necessary for the Ph.D. core courses. If, after Math Camp, a student determines that he or she would benefit from additional coursework during the first year to remediate deficiencies, changes in her or his schedule can be made prior to the start of classes. Students taking remedial math courses are not eligible for assistantships.

Schedule and Example Itinerary
Math Camp is held during the two weeks prior to the start of classes each fall semester and does not count toward graduate course credit.
Here is an example of the daily itinerary. Please check with your adviser for the current Math Camp schedule.
Monday
- 9:30am-11:00am - Welcome Breakfast
- 11am-1pm - Set Theory
- 2pm-4pm - Calculus Refresher
Tuesday
- 9am-12pm - Set Theory & Fixed Point Theorem
- 1pm-4pm - Matrix Algebra
Wednesday
- 9am-12pm - Jacobian/Hessian Matrices, Cramer's Rule
- 1pm-4pm - CV1, CS3, IFT2, ET4
Thursday
- 9am-12:30 - GA Training (Grad 701S)
- 1pm-5pm - New Grad Orientation
Friday
- 9am-12pm Lagrange Multipliers & Kuhn-Tucker Conditions, STATA
