Summary
After serving twelve years in higher administration, I have recently returned to the Department of Biology. My teaching will include Parasitology which is a course that has not been offered by the department for several years. This course studies the biology of animal parasites with a focus on many parasites that are of biomedical importance. I will also be teaching a new general capstone course entitled "Malaria: Its many facets." Using Malaria as an example, the course will intertwine the biomedical aspects of disease with its humanitarian, political, social and economic implications. As one who has been very much involved in the institution's Core Curriculum, I am very interested in evaluating our undergraduate general education requirements particularly in the context of scientific and quantitative reasoning and projects are planned for pursuing assessments in this area.
